Tinnitus assessment

HideShowYour tinnitus assessment will determine if Lenire is a suitable treatment option for you or if another treatment is recommended.
The assessment is carried out by one of our experienced audiologists who specialise in tinnitus care. It consists of a clinical evaluation including a review of your medical, audiological, and tinnitus history. A suite of audiological tests will be conducted by your audiologist, along with a set of subjective tinnitus measurements.
If further examination is required, Ótologie may refer you to an appropriate healthcare provider.
If Lenire is recommended as an option for you, a member of our team will discuss the device and treatment plan with you, providing all of the relevant information including the payment plans available.

Fitting appointment

HideShowIf Lenire is deemed suitable for you and prescribed by our audiologists, the device’s audio and tongue stimulation parameters are configured based on your tinnitus and audiological profile. This allows us to tailor the treatment to you.

Follow-up assessments
45 mins
HideShowYour first follow-up assessment will take place approximately six to 12 weeks into the treatment plan. Another follow-up assessment will be booked a further six to 12 weeks after the first.
This allows our team to assess your progress. It’s possible our audiologists may decide to change the configuration of Lenire’s stimulation during a follow up assessment to get the best outcome for you.
If you have any issues throughout the treatment plan, it’s important that you let us know as an assessment may be required in which the device’s stimulation settings are readjusted.

Continued use

HideShowIf Lenire is deemed suitable and prescribed your audiologist, Lenire’s audio and tongue stimulations are configured and calibrated to your characteristics by our team.
This allows your audiologist to tailor the device to your hearing profile and tinnitus experience.
Next, we ship your device directly to you so you can get started with treatment as soon as possible. We’ll book a video call with you to show you how to use the device and to make sure you’re comfortable with everything.

HideShowAt the end of the prescribed treatment plan our team will advise each patient on their continued use of the Lenire device.
Patient Suitability
Lenire is not suitable for everyone. To ensure the safe use of the device there are a number of contraindications and warnings that your healthcare provider will consider prior to prescribing the treatment for you
If you have any of the contraindications specified below, your healthcare provider will not prescribe Lenire and will recommend an alternative treatment approach.
You should not use Lenire if:
- You have a pacemaker, defibrillator or any other active implantable device;
- You are pregnant, unless directed by a doctor;
- You suffer from epilepsy or any other condition that may result in loss of consciousness;
- You suffer from any condition that causes impaired sensitivity of the tongue;
- You have lesions, sores or inflammation of the oral cavity;
- They are suffering from any intermittent or chronic neuralgia in the head and neck area.
Lenire fitting range
Lenire is calibrated to the unique hearing profile of each patient. At this time the device cannot be configured for patients with a hearing threshold (AC) in either ear of >40dBHL in the range of 250Hz – 1kHz or >80dBHL in the range of 2kHz- 8kHz. As a result, Lenire may not be suitable for hearing loss outside of this fitting range.
